about
Building operational and financial infrastructure for civil society
interalia is a fiscal host: a legally registered non-profit organisation (a German gGmbh), who holds and manages funds on behalf of other groups who don't have the operational capacity or who choose not to. By doing so, we take fiscal and legal responsibility for what happens with those funds.
Our mission
Interalia enables and empowers members of civil society working at the intersection of tech and social justice to advance their core missions, by taking care of their operations and finances as they evolve.
Who we work with

Individuals or unregistered groups
Informal small teams who want to receive funds without worrying about operations, taxes, or accounting.
Established teams
Who want more independence than at their original fiduciary home, or who need to seek new organisational homes and continue funding relationships.
Philanthropy
Wanting to distribute money in ways that is operationally difficult within their own infrastructure.
Non-EU based organisations
Looking for a European home for their operations, so they can apply for Europe-specific funding or receive tax-free donations within Germany.
Time-bound teams
Who come together for a specific purpose (e.g. an event) and need to host funds for a specific amount of time.
The change we want to see
We work to support the tech and society ecosystem, understood as anyone working on topics related to the impact of technology and data on our society, in the broadest sense. We see an urgent need for more joined-up operational infrastructure across civil society, and we dream of a network of fiscal hosts, providing a shared infrastructure of operational support, knowledge and resources, which strengthens the resilience of the civil society ecosystem, transforming our relationships with each other to be centred around care instead of competition.
